Head Cake

This cake by Betsy Youngquist is embellished with vintage and contemporary glass beads, pearls, and glass stones using a mosaic process. The cake is sweet but not to be eaten. This baked wonder is covered in pink icing and a head from an old Japanese Gofun doll. These dolls heads are covered in a paste composed of crushed oysters. I love the details on these doll parts. Head Cake reminds us to savor the sweet moments life brings our way.
