Pink 3 by Betsy Youngquist

6.5x6.5x1.75

My surrealistic world puts eyes on most things. Eyes denote awareness and connection. I like to think that all of nature is awake. The central eye communicates being watched over and cared for. The flower is nature at her most beautiful. Materials are another channel for energy. As many repurposed items have lived previous lives, I like to think these materials brings stories of their travels along with them when they join a piece.

Materials-

-resin human eye
-vintage mother of pearl navettes
-repurposed sequins from a New Orleans area artist
-Swarovski flat back crystals (these sparkle and dance in person)
-old chunks of dyed pink shell
-contemporary glass seed beads from the Czech Republic
-contemporary glass beads from Japan (Miyuki)
-rhinestone cup chain from the Czech Republic
This hand sculpted form is embellished using a mosaic process. There is a loop on the back of Pink for wall hanging
