Beading in the Big Easy

Betsy Youngquist, Nancy Josephson, and Jan Huling, for a very special weekend beading in the Big Easy over Valentine’s Day & the start of the Mardi Gras cultural season! We will spend each of the 3 days working and playing, playing and working within the awe inspiring walls of the Mardi Gras Museum of Culture and Costumes. The three of us have prepared make and take projects through which you will be sampling each of our techniques and aesthetics- and of course, infusing your own! We will explore and immerse ourselves within the beading tradition of the Mardi Gras Indians through the authentic expertise of contemporary bead artist, Big Chief Demond Melancon of the Young Seminole Hunters tribe.
